Ever since we mailed our business letters in February to the nonprofit organizations we chose to study, we have been eagerly waiting for the mail to come each day-- and come it has! We have received responses (everything from brochures to clothing!) from about 70% of the organizations we wrote to so far. Check out all the packages we have received and where some of them are from: The sixth graders have just begun their Make A Difference unit in language arts. This is a huge undertaking that will involve a persuasive essay, research paper, business letter, and a presentation all centered around a nonprofit organization that resonates with each individual student. We have just begun, but here are the organizations students have chosen:
ALEX: Fuel up to Play 60 WILLIAM: Comix Relief KELSEY: Make-A-Wish DONOVAN: ASPCA DALTON: NBA Cares SHAIN: Guide Dog Foundation JOSLYN: Heifer International LILY: Hoops for Hope KAMRIN: MLS Works BREZEE: The Humane Society of the United States BROOKE: World Wildlife Foundation ISAIAH: Special Olympics Check back for more news as the unit progresses! |
